The tempting, luscious appeal of chocolates come direct from tempering, a cycle of heating, cooling and re-warming the chocolate to be able to get its specific temperature.
Crumbly and streaky chocolates are the direct results of leaving out the tempering process in making chocolate candy, a condition called blooming, so most big chocolate makers and chocolatiers take the time to temper. Tempering is equated with fine quality chocolates.
Chocolate tempering needs to be accurate, that’s why it’s considered a tedious task when it’s manually done. A new chocolatier may find it hard to temper chocolate the first time; it’ll probably be hit and miss at first. There’s a lot to learn still before you can fully master the intricacies of tempering.
Tempering is a very crucial process due to the cocoa butter in chocolates. Cocoa butter contains fat crystals that solidify at different specific temperatures. Tempering has one objective: form crystals in one single structure only.
The very first thing you have to learn is that chocolate tempering involves chemistry. The fatty acid that is in the cocoa butter should crystallize and produce as many type V crystals as possible because this is the main reason why best quality chocolates are produced. These fatty acids can crystallize in six different structures.
You also need to familiarize yourself with the proper handling and working with specific temperatures that different chocolates need. Chocolates are very responsive to temperature, causing it to lose its temper quickly. Others use temper meters or calibrated thermometers to guarantee temperature ranges every time.
Manual chocolate tempering can be done in two ways: either by tabliering or seeding. On tabliering, you work on the melted chocolate over a stone slab until it cools down to a particular temperature. With seeding, you have to slowly seed the chocolate must with already-tempered chocolate which works as binders for the loose crystals to form the appropriate crystalline structure.
Both cases need to melt the chocolate until it reaches the right temperature and maintain this temperature while you’re dipping and molding. Though if you’re someone who constantly makes chocolates and produce them in a large volume, you’ll need the help of chocolate tempering machine to be able to consistently produce the same quality confectioneries every time you make them.
Chocolate tempering machines have microprocessors designed to primarily produce the type V crystals essential for the best chocolate features. You can just leave your chocolate in the chocolate tempering machine and not worry about temperatures, since the computer automatically regulates temperature and the process as well. The heating, cooling and reheating process are already automated that you do not have to worry about a single thing.
You can definitely produce in mass when you have the machine, so it only means that more production means more profit.
With the use of the machine, you can now concentrate in your creativity by focusing on how you can further improve your chocolates.

Well chosen accent pieces can make or break the flow of an otherwise well thought out room. Poorly chosen pieces, or errr… ugly pieces, are sore on the eyes and greatly distract from the room’s other aesthetic qualities. Assuming there are any. And if there are none, that’s ok too- we’re here to help with that.
Oftentimes we can find ourselves in a decorating rut. We recognize our homes are in need of extreme makeovers, but unlike high profile television networks, our bank accounts are not exactly endless. The good news is that a little creativity in the area of home decorating can go a long way, and if we’re lucky we won’t have to spend a thing. In the event that we’re unlucky, we’ll spend a few dollars (which we could probably find at the bottom of our couch anyway).
This post focuses on how you can vamp up your home lighting style with a little paint, a little time, and a lot of fun. First things first, rummage through your home and find an ugly lamp. You’ll want to find a piece that- overall has good structure (even if it’s boring or plain) and is in working condition. You’ll need a few materials for this project, but don’t worry- most of these things you’ll already have.
Materials
Rubbing Alcohol
Cleaning RagPainter’s Tape
Craft Spray Paint
New lamp shade (found in the home furnishings section of most stores) if you’re less than happy with the current shade.
Choose an optimal spray paint based on the current finish of your lamp. Spray paint cans list the ideal finishes on the front or side of the can.
Now, painting 101, clean the surface of your lamp by wiping it down with a cleaning rag and some rubbing alcohol. Be sure to remove any hardware (screws, switches, etc.) so that it does not get painted. Also, to protect the cord from paint, use the painter’s tape as you would when painting the trim on your walls at home. We’re ready to paint! Or at least we should be- so long as we’re either outside or in a well ventilated space with newspaper lining the floor.
Now the fun part. Holding the can 8-10 inches away from the lamp, evenly distributing color throughout the lamp’s surface. You will have to do this using multiple coats. It’s important to refrain from saturating one area; otherwise you’ll have drips that remain on the finished product. Wipe drips immediately away using a damp rag. A few coats of paint is generally enough to get the job done. Less coats result in an uneven distribution of color (which can be a cool look if that’s what you’re going for). Let the lamp dry overnight, otherwise you’ll end up smudging the color.

Stencilling has actually been around for 25 years, even though many people think Banksy devised it. You can use cardboard, paper or other forms of media (such as plastics) to make templated imagery and text. You merely cut out the design from your paper/cardboard/other surface, put said surface onto a wall (example), then spray or roll-on paint.
In effect, the method of stencilling involves applying paint across a stencil to form an image on a surface below. It’s also possible to employ multiple layers of stencils to produce an illusion of depth or even add colours.
There are innumerable causes for being a stencil graffiti artist. For some, it is a great platform to shout out a political point. Many stencil artists treasure the PR that their artwork can acquire. Some just want their work to be viewed. As the stencil remains consistent throughout its use, it is easier for an artist to rapidly duplicate what could be a complex artwork at a very speedy rate, when equated to other conventional tagging methods, so without question, there is also a compelling self-promoting reason to choose stencilling.
Banksy has applied stencilling as a means to make a political statement, often quite succinctly, providing the viewer to work out that very point in their head. This is oftentimes why people enjoy his artworks so much, as they make the viewer think. Banksy artwork is now being reprinted on t-shirts, canvas and posters, such is the popularity of Banksy.

Ever singe weekend, in the city thatI live in we have a Farmer’s Market. Now this is not the farmers market that you have in the little town that we hold in the park. This is a huge, giant market. Pretty much any kind of food that you could want is there. There are also all different kinds of crafts and art with a lot of clothing and furniture. I guess I would have to say that if you can make it, you can get it at the market. My favorite part of the market is the flower section.Row after row after row of beautiful flowers are waiting for your to just snatch them up and give them a good home. Maybe you are there for the food. Well you are in luck. If its fish you carve, then its fish you shall receive. At the market they have only the freshest if fish. Fish that you see where caught that very day and are labeled with where the fish was caught, and which fisherman caught him. You can also be a spectator in the ever so popular fish tossing events. That’s what happens when somebody orders a fish. One of the guys who works at the fish stand will grab your fish and toss him dozens of feet through the air, until he is caught and weighed by the guy on the scales.I like tosampleall of the food. If you go at the right time of day, you don’t evenneed to buy any food. Just go around and get all the free samples. Aday at the farmers market is day well spent.

My wife noticed that I was doing the Sudoku puzzles in our local rag instead of the crossword. They start easy on Monday and increase in difficulty towards the end of the week. She decided I should have a thick book of Sudoku puzzles to take up the next twenty years. She bought me a copy of Jumbo Sudoku for Christmas. You can get your copy by calling 1-800-327-6388 (Time, Inc.). Tell them that Taylor Jones, the hack writer, sent you.
The puzzles in Jumbo Sudoku are rated easy to fiendish. However, watch out for the ones labelled “easy.” Some are easy; others are harder then those labelled “fiendish.”
To solve a puzzle you just look at it. Pretty soon the right side of your brain will solve it for you unless you are left-handed. I’m not sure what you do then.
Look at a sub square. What numbers are missing?
Look at a full-length row. What numbers are missing?
Look at a full-length column. What numbers are missing?
Okay, write in the missing numbers.
Easy, right? What, you still have missing numbers?
Try this: Look at the three sub-squares forming a 3 x 9 column. Say there is a “9″ in the left column of the top square. There is another “9″ in the right hand column of the bottom square. Surely, there must be a “9″ in the MIDDLE column of the center square (and I didn’t call you, Shirley).
What, the nine is already there? Good!
If not see if you can determine which of the three elements is the “9.” If there is only one blank space, it is the “9.” If you can’t determine which square it is, then put a tiny “9″ in the boxes it could be in.
Keep doing this until you are done.
If you can’t solve even an easy Sudoku puzzle, may I suggest having a friend help you?
You can also switch to the Danish board game, Husker-du®? Don’t play this with little kids. They forget nothing and will beat your pants off.
If that doesn’t work, RUN!
The End
