There are all kinds of trips and vacations that you can go on. Trips don’t have to be formal. They can be a random walk thru the countryside or a walk thru a park. Now how about a new twist. Go hunt for space junk, meteorites , or indian artifacts. Each year ten of thousands of meteorites hit the earth. They are worth big dollars to the finders. In fact they are worth more than gold. You might say they are black gold. This is your chance to find one. You also will be able to say that you have entered the Twilight Zone.
Did you ever go on a strange vacation? Well this one is out of this world. When you come to Truth or Consequences to see the new space station that will launch tourists into space, do a little walking to find space junk…meteorites on our ranch. Hunting for meteorites does not have to be a bone chilling adventure to the Antarctic where the temperature is 50 below zero F and 50 mile per hour winds. Meteors enter the earth atmosphere everywhere. They impact everywhere. The trick in finding them is to look where they have had a good chance of impacting or where they have been concentrated by natural forces of the earth and HAVE NOT BEEN DESTROYED BY WEATHERING. This means deserts are a good place to search for meteorites. Deserts can change over the centuries. But deserts don’t alway have major weathering. Thus if you want to find meteorites you may want to come to our Truth or Consequences Ranch. It is located in New Mexico adjacent to the Chihuahuan Desert. There are trillions and trillions of terrestrial rocks for each meteorite that could be in this area. Metal detectors are used by many professional meteorite hunters around the world. Metal detectors can easily distinguish between ferrous and non ferrous rocks. Since not all meteorites are ferrous only the ferrous meteorites will be found by the metal detector. Modern metal detectors can balance out dominant background rocks. This inhances the detector to find the meteorites. Metal detectors creat a constant hum. The volume and pitch of this hum increases as the detector passes over the metallic object. There are hot rocks which produces a signal but is a false positive. Thus detecting requires concentration and you will see lots and lots of hot rocks. You must also keep a visual eye for other interesting rocks which can be meteorites. It seems that the best way to find meteorites from this area is to use a combination of metal detecting and good old-fashioned shoe-leather foot searching. The weather is not hard to predict for the Truth or Consequences area. Don’t bother to bring a rain coat, it only rains 10″ per year. The winters are mild as it is Southern New Mexico. It could get to 10F, but not for many days of the year. A clear sky with a gentle breeze is the norm.
DLP televisions are based on a technology invented by Texas Instruments back in 1987 called Digital Light Processing. The technology is based on an optical semiconductor called DMD (Digital Micromirror Device) chip. It is a highly reliable, all-digital display chip that delivers the best picture across a broad range of products, including large screen digital TVs, and projectors for business, home, professional venue and digital cinema. The chip consists of over one million mirrors to process light. They come in either single chip or 3 chip configurations. One-chip DLP systems use a projection lamp to pass white light through a color wheel that sends red-green-blue colors to the DMD chip in a sequential order to create an image on-screen. Only one DMD chip is used to process the primary RGB colors. Three-chip DLP systems use a projection lamp to send white light through a prism, which creates separate red, green, and blue light beams. Each beam is sent to their respective red, green, and blue DMD chip to process the image for display on-screen. One-chip models are said to produce a display of over 16-million colors. Three-chip models can produce a display of over 35-trillion colors. The result is maximum fidelity: a picture whose clarity, brilliance and color must be seen to be believed.
When a DLP chip is coordinated with a digital video or graphic signal, a light source, and a projection lens, its mirrors can reflect an all-digital image onto a screen or other surface. The DLP chip and the sophisticated electronics that surround it are what we call Digital Light Processing technology.
Benefits of Single chip DLP:
1. Fantastic color accuracy.
2. The best contrast ratios and shadow detail. 3. Generally very quiet. 4. Very little space between each pixel creates a very smooth image, even when using lower resolution projectors.
5. Light engine failures are very rare so repairs are less costly than other technologies. 6. Technology doesn’t degrade over time. With proper routine maintenance, DLP projectors consistently provide just-out-of-the-box performance. (DLP is the only technology that makes this claim).
Benefits of Three chip DLP:
1. Good contrast; much greater than film theaters.
2. Good shadow detail.
3. Can provide high brightness compared to the limited brightness of single chip versions. 4. Overall image quality deemed as the best of any type of micro display technology.
5. Same technology as projectors installed in digital theaters.
6. Pure digital technology.
The bit-streamed image code entering the semiconductor directs each mirror to switch on and off up to several thousand times per second. When a mirror is switched on more frequently than off, it reflects a light gray pixel; a mirror that’s switched off more frequently reflects a darker gray pixel. In this way, the mirrors in a DLP projection system can reflect pixels in up to 1,024 shades of gray to convert the video or graphic signal entering the DLP chip into a highly detailed grayscale image.
The white light generated by the lamp in a DLP projection system passes through a color wheel as it travels to the surface of the DLP chip. The color wheel filters the light into red, green, and blue, from which a single-chip DLP projection system can create at least 16.7 million colors. And the 3-chip system found in DLP Cinema projection systems is capable of producing no fewer than 35 trillion colors. The on and off states of each micromirror are coordinated with these three basic building blocks of color. For example, a mirror responsible for projecting a purple pixel will only reflect red and blue light to the projection surface; our eyes then blend these rapidly alternating flashes to see the intended hue in a projected image.
If you have had trouble planting a tree the River Birch is a choice that is easy to transplant. They are adaptable and grow fast. These trees do not seem to be bothered by the Bronzed Birch Borer which has killed off many White Birches used in urban landscape near Frenchtown NJ.
When I was in the 8th grade I would go fishing along the Delaware River at night. I would camp along the river bank and fish into the wee hours of the night. I am always drifting back to those childhood memories when I pass a river birch tree that is highlighted by lights at night. The nightime interest that this tree expresses can help capture moments for you. The main feature of this medium sized spreading tree is its colorful peeling bark. This builds up on the stem and main branches in soft curling layers of orange, pink, grey and brown. Another great advantage of this species is its tolerance of wet soil and seasonal flooding making it an ideal pond or riverbank tree. Specimens often develop multiple stems which increases the attractiveness its shaggy bark. As an ornamental tree it also has bright green, toothed leaves and long yellow clusters of catkins in early spring. It will have a spreading root system that will check erosion. It is hardy and will seldom blow down. The plant is native to the eastern states from Massachusetts to Florida. The range continues along the Gulf of Mexico and into Texas.
At most nurseries you could expect the following prices on birches (Not all sizes and types shown) Betula Nigra Dura Heat River Birch 6-8′ clump $125.00 8-10′ clump $150.00 Betula Nigra Heritage River Birch Clump 6-8′ clump $150.00 8-10′ clump $175.00 12-18″ seedlings @ $2.00 ea. and 1250 18-24″ seedlings @ $3.00 ea. Car alarms, screeching subway cars, loud bars and barking dogs are only a few of the annoyances that can harass people on a daily basis. In a large metropolitan city, these things are the norm and are actually harmful to your ears.
If you are exposed to this constantly you can suffer permanent hearing loss. A rock concert has the noise level of 110 decibels. Even a crowded restaurant can be as much as 96 decibels. And if the sound was not enough, it can damage your ears immediately. When noise is loud it can kill the nerve endings in the inner ear. There is no way to restore nerve endings that are dead. Hearing loss happens gradually, so you would not know about it unless you have your ears tested. By then it can be too late.
Noise also has other detrimental factors. It can cause high blood pressure, fatigue and headaches. It can cause anxiety and difficulty focusing on chores.
New York city became the first city in the United States to adopt a noise code in 1972. It is still in effect today. The law says that no car alarm can ring for more than 3 minutes and that construction can only occur weekdays between 7 A.M. and 6 P.M. and weekends 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. The only way it is enforced is through complaints. You can be fined $45 for “unreasonable noise” and as much as $8,000 for larger violations (say, in a nightclub).
Listening to an iPod? Don’t spin the dial up more than two thirds. Earbuds can increase the volume and put your ears in constant danger.
The average rock concert has 115 decibels, fifteen minutes is the most you can handle without ear plugs. If they are properly fitted, ear plugs work very well. Foam earplugs are made to last only a couple of days. Wax ones are stronger. There are also custom made silicon-rubber earplugs, which you can wash and re-use for years. They can cost as much as $125.
Sound proofing your home is a good idea as well. Hang heavy window curtains and use acoustical tile where possible. If you really need some quiet time, go to the beach, swim, or go to the library.
I was reading a piece the other day, written by a photographer who offers both film and digital capture to his customers. I am always interested to hear other professional photographer’s opinions on the subject. I was a film devotee for over 30 years, and only made the switch to digital a little over three years ago.
In the piece I mentioned, the photographer/author sited the fact that film is more ‘forgiving’ than digital when it comes to proper exposure. This is certainly true. Especially in the highlights of the image. You can overexpose negative film by more than two stops, and still get details in the highlights.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with photo-geek speak, for any given scene framed in the viewfinder of a camera, there is a correct exposure to the light coming from the scene and onto the film, or digital sensor. Over exposure by one “stop” means twice as much light as should be getting to the film or sensor, is getting to it. Two stops over is twice that much more, or four times the amount of light as the correct exposure.
Do that to your digital capture and there’s no recovering data from the highlights. Sorry, it’s gone! Actually, positive film, or “slide” film also has a much lower tolerance to overexposure, so not all film is that much more ‘forgiving’. But the point here is… ta DA…”Forgiving”, (and may I finish the thought), of bad exposure!
The author of the piece I refer to here also is a photographer in Hawaii, as I am. He writes of how the light here changes so quickly and frequently with the trade winds blowing the clouds over the sun, then away from the sun, etc. And it is true that on many days, especially in the earlier afternoons the brightness and intensity of the sun can vary quite a bit.
Personally, my solution is, knowing that about the light and the sun, clouds and trades, 1) be aware of it, and 2) know your equipment so you can make rapid adjustments, and then, 3) make the adjustments as needed!
Then there was the assertion that, “Prints made from negatives have more ‘depth’ than prints made from digital files.”
As I mentioned, I was a film devotee for over 30 years. And I used medium format cameras using negatives over 3 times the size of 35mm negs. Print quality was one of the main factors that kept me from converting to digital earlier than I did. I insisted on seeing my own images printed digitally, that matched the quality of the prints I was used to from my film processing labs.
The simple truth is that prints are two-dimensional. Prints have no depth. What creates the illusion of depth in an image are the contrasts in the image. Shadows and highlights, perspective, and the human mind. It is up to the photographer to shape, frame and capture the elements that create the illusion of depth. That’s why professional photographers create images, while others catch snapshots.
The other evening at a meeting with some art directors, when I was asked, “How do you feel about digital? Has the quality caught up with film yet?” I unhesitatingly responded, “It has caught and surpassed film!”
Of course I was speaking from the perspective of a professional photographer. When you have a correctly exposed image, and you use state of the art printers, you simply cannot beat digital imaging. My big, medium format negative film prints would start to get grainy at 30×40, but my 6 mega pixel digital images, printed on Epson Stylus Pro printers look tack sharp at 40×55.
So, strictly on an image comparison, print to print, film and digital, I would have to say there’s virtually no difference up to about 16×20, or maybe 20×24. Larger than that, digital is superior.
All this being said, visual arts are very subjective, and this is my opinion.

Everybody wants to build a fire when they are camping. Sitting around the campfire talking is one of the most enjoyable parts of camping. But before we lite our fire we need to be sure we are safe and ready. The most important aspect of starting a fire is the preparation. This can’t be understated. For safety, before you light the match you must be sure that: 1. the fire site is properly prepared 2. you have enough tinder, kindling, and wood for the fire 3. you have cleared away all flammable debris, down to bare earth. 4. you must have a means of containing the fire. All of these steps are extremely important because a fire can get out of control if you are not prepared. You need to make sure the fire is contained and will not spread. You want to be certain that you have enough wood because you don’t want to leave a fire unattended while you are out looking for more. It is also very important to check above the fire site for low hanging tree branches, and below it for exposed tree roots.
Once you have the fire site prepared, you can turn your focus to the fire. Depending on weather conditions, this may or may not be difficult. You never know when you may need to start a fire, like in an emergency, or a downpour or the middle of winter. I always carry some matches in a waterproof container on any journey into the woods. You never know what will happen so it is best to be prepared.
Since you have gathered everything you need for a fire now you can begin to build the fire. Be sure you have everything ready before hand, the fire may not light on the first match but you want it to work the first time. The first thing to build a fire is tinder, small, dry twigs. Frequently, tinder on the ground it too wet to use. Another method is to break of tinder off of small dead branches. Another excellent source is birch bark. Birch bark will burn even if it is wet. It lights fast and burns hot.
Once you the tinder is lit, you can add the kindling. Kindling is larger sticks that will burn for a longer duration than tinder. These pieces are between 1/4 and 1/2 inches in diameter but lots of kindling around the small side works great. Once you have built up the fire and there is sufficient heat and burning embers, you can begin to add larger and larger pieces of wood to the fire. This is the fuel of the fire. If the fire is going and all you have is wet wood, you can dry out the wood by placing it next to the burning fire.
Another good thing to bring with you is fire starters. Fire starters will light and burn no matter what the conditions are. Trioxane bars have been used by the military for this purpose. They don’t weigh much and always work well. It is important to be prepared.
It is important to know how to make a fire and to have practiced it. I can’t stress this enough. Every time you are out camping try to light the fire with just one or two matches. When you really do need to get a fire started in an emergency, you will be able to do so. You don’t want to find out that you can’t do it when you really need it.
Personal coaching is a therapy that has become very used over the last six years. The term first became famous in the USA where, together with NLP aka Neuro Linguistic Programming, it became part of a revived spectacular wave of incredibly proactive therapy techniques. Book a Life Coach in london online.
In many ways both Success Coaching and NLP are a reaction against certain factors of the person-centred therapy movement, in particular Human-Centred Counselling. A criticism of the humanistic approach is that it is truly reactive and not extremely proactive. Although this works fantastic with some customers, with others long periods of impasse or low return for time and effort occur. Coaching and Neuro Linguistic Programming are both humanistic therapy in stance, focusing on improving a clients well-being rather than jumping into the depths of childhood, like traditional therapy. Life coachings emphasis is, however, deliberately proactive and their to resolve your problems.
Personal coaching is not about preaching to the customer what to do. This is a common misconception. Some performance coaches are pretty successful in their business careers and then make the change to coaching, assuming that they will only be required to share their pearls of sensational success and wisdom with the lifestyle coaching customer. This is more like mentoring a person in a specific environment. Coaching is instead about life as a collective.

In the last few years a new disease called bird flu has gotten a lot of press. Because it killed a lot of birds and people are worried that humans will soon be dying from it as well.
The diseases formal name is avian flu and and some people have gotten the disease, which can be hard to diagnose.
It is usually necessary for doctors to take a swab from the patent’s throat or nose and send it to a laboratory. Either the lab will find the virus or grow it.
If the disease isn’t diagnosed early, it may be necessary to use blood tests to detect it and it can take weeks to get a correct diagnoses.
Fortunately, there is a vaccine which can protect against the disease. If needed the U.S. will distribute the vaccine.
Recently birds began dying of a disease nicknamed “bird flu”. A lot of people began to worry that it could turn into a worldwide epidemic, or Pandemic.
However, a lot of things have to take place before that can happen.
First, a new influenza virus subtype has to appear - one for which there is no human immunity. It must also infect humans and cause sickness. And it must spread easily and without interruption among humans.
One Asian and European version of avian flu meets the first two conditions.
But the third condition has not been met so, at this time a pandemic of bird flu does not seem likely in the near future.
We decided to remortgage our lovely home but didn’t know the first thing about the process until we met a very qualified mortgage broker from the company of Remortgages Ireland.
They gave us a very adept young man who brokered our deal with the loan institution & he also educated us as to all of the ins & outs involved with remortgaging a home, our rights, as well as all of our responsibilities in the loan application process & eased the transition with the lending institution & our bank.
We highly recommend their web at www.mortgageloans.ie, to anyone who wishes to remortgage their home.
The reason why my husband Thomas & I highly recommend the remortgage company of Remortgages Ireland is because of the fact that they did such a fabulous job acting as our intermediaries between us & the lending institution.
They assigned ua an adept young woman who very much so knew her career inside, as well as out.
She gave us the very valuable education of our rights & responsibilities, as well as the lending establishments resposibilitites & position. We learned things that we did not previously know or consider.
Our remortgage process turned out quite well, actually & we again, heartily recommend Irish Remortgages company.
Remortgage property is always advantageous for most of the people
